Client is seeking a Paralegal to join their Family Law practice. Any applicant must have knowledge of Family Law procedure in King County and be comfortable referencing local rules and procedures for other counties.
Client is a well-established and long-standing general practice firm in downtown Seattle with strong ties to the local community. They are close to transit centers, ferries, and the King County courthouse. They cultivate a collaborative atmosphere and offer good benefits and friendly co-workers.
Must Haves:
- At least three 2-3 years of Family Law paralegal experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required
- Working knowledge of court rules (including King County e-filing, e-service and working copies procedure), discovery processes, and case management
- Familiarity practice management software (or the ability to quickly learn new software)
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office
- High proficiency with use of calendaring software
Plusses:
- Familiarity with FamilySoft and Adobe Acrobat Pro (useful but not required)
- Paralegal Certification preferred
Role + Responsibilities:
- Drafting pleadings and preparing state forms in various proceedings (dissolution/legal separation, paternity, support modification, DVPO, etc.)
- Drafting and serving discovery materials (interrogatories and requests for production, subpoenas, deposition setup, etc.)
- Drafting and preparing trial materials (witness lists, exhibit lists, joint statements of evidence, etc.)
- Working with clients to obtain necessary documentation to complete discovery requests and satisfy financial source document rules
- Organizing and managing files, documents, and exhibits
- Scheduling and meeting deadlines for Family Law case schedules
- Managing multiple attorney caseloads and deadlines
- Setting and participating in remote video conferencing proficiently
